By this stage of the meeting, the inside section of the track may begin to chop out, potentially favouring horses who can make their finishing run down the middle to the outside of the straight. This could bring the strong, wet-track backmarkers into play.

The 1500m start at Gawler is located in a chute, providing a straight run of approximately 500m to the first turn. This is a fair starting point that allows horses drawn wider with speed, like #3 Easy Beast, a reasonable opportunity to cross and find a position without being immediately disadvantaged. The home straight is around 300m long, which is sufficient for backmarkers to make up ground, particularly if the pace has been genuine and the track allows for runs to be made down the centre.

This is a low-grade Restricted 56 handicap, which often leads to inconsistent performances.
