Speed map
This 1000m Benchmark 62 has abundant speed. So Polite, Zatanna and Redwinelover all have repeated first-three settling records, and Zatanna has to come from barrier 14, which makes the pressure immediate. Bardigrub, Madam Jeanette and Blondie's Award are also capable of being close, so the front half should be crowded. Oie De Toulouse, Nostryia, Sharendipity, Mine All Mine, Gusty Way and Alpha Street sit in the midfield layer, while Tobikko and Reine Of Nine are the backmarkers.
The key angle horses are spread right through the map. Zatanna has the strongest trainer A/E in the race but the widest gate and the need to cross. Redwinelover has the Stacey Metcalfe angle and a perfect barrier 2 for the speed role. Bardigrub has the Teagan Voorham angle but barrier 13 makes his on-pace pattern expensive. So Polite has the Caitlin Tootell angle and a much more manageable barrier 7.
Historical overview
The Parks 1000m profile is strongly pace-driven. Across 55 races, leaders have won 31 and returned 1.18 A/E, while backmarkers have only one win at 0.27. The broad numbers say the winner is very likely to be in the first three early.
The Soft 1000m subset strengthens that view: leaders have nine wins from 16 races at 1.34 A/E and backmarkers are winless. Wide barriers have held up better than usual at 1.15 A/E, which is relevant to Zatanna and Bardigrub, but the racing style still matters more than the draw. There is no exact rail sample, so the Soft 1000m speed pattern is the primary guide.
- Leaders dominate Soft 1000m races — nine of 16 winners at 1.34 A/E, a direct tick for So Polite, Zatanna and Redwinelover.
- Backmarkers are opposed — zero Soft winners and only one broad winner, making Tobikko and Reine Of Nine hard to support.
- Wide speed can still win — wide barriers have four Soft wins at 1.15 A/E, but only if the horse crosses without burning too much.
Overall assessment
Zatanna, So Polite and Redwinelover should all be prominent, and the winner is likely to come from that leading cluster unless they overcook the race. The wide draw makes Zatanna the most vulnerable of the speed horses despite the strong stable angle. Redwinelover has the draw to hold a cheap position, while So Polite has enough pace and a middle gate to avoid the worst of the crossing pressure.
Key chances:
- 12. Redwinelover — Barrier 2, a genuine leader pattern and the Metcalfe angle put her in the exact historical lane with the least early cost.
- 9. So Polite — She maps as a leader from a workable draw and has the Tootell angle. She can pressure or trail depending on how hard Zatanna crosses.
- 10. Zatanna — The Scott Whittle angle is strong and her pace is obvious, but barrier 14 means the map support is conditional on crossing cleanly.
The models have not published a selection. I would still keep the race focused on the leaders because the Soft 1000m evidence is strong. Redwinelover is the neatest map/history runner, with So Polite close behind and Zatanna the higher-risk speed horse.
